ARC Review- Girls Made of Snow and Glass

Guys I'm the literal worst! In the last post I promised a new post at least every other week...
And that was a month ago! In my defense I was grounded for two weeks and I've had serious Reader/Writers block. But I swear I'm back now. I have four (no lying I swear) posts written up.
There's this one book (the next post is based on it) that helped me through my block. I've finished four books and I'm half way through a fifth this week.
So... now onto my super overdue (again I'm sorry) post.

Frozen meets The Bloody Chamber in this feminist fantasy reimagining of the Snow White fairytale

At sixteen, Mina's mother is dead, her magician father is vicious, and her silent heart has never beat with love for anyone—has never beat at all, in fact, but she’d always thought that fact normal. She never guessed that her father cut out her heart and replaced it with one of glass. When she moves to Whitespring Castle and sees its king for the first time, Mina forms a plan: win the king’s heart with her beauty, become queen, and finally know love. The only catch is that she’ll have to become a stepmother.

Fifteen-year-old Lynet looks just like her late mother, and one day she discovers why: a magician created her out of snow in the dead queen’s image, at her father’s order. But despite being the dead queen made flesh, Lynet would rather be like her fierce and regal stepmother, Mina. She gets her wish when her father makes Lynet queen of the southern territories, displacing Mina. Now Mina is starting to look at Lynet with something like hatred, and Lynet must decide what to do—and who to be—to win back the only mother she’s ever known…or else defeat her once and for all.

Entwining the stories of both Lynet and Mina in the past and present, Girls Made of Snow and Glass traces the relationship of two young women doomed to be rivals from the start. Only one can win all, while the other must lose everything—unless both can find a way to reshape themselves and their story.

Review:
How about we start with the plot. It's absolutely intriguing. There was never a dull spot where I was forcing myself to continue. In fact sometime I was so into it I had to put it down and take a deep breath before continuing. Especially with the way the book was written. It switched point of views between Mina and Lynet but Mina's POV starts when she was a little girl and Lynets starts nearing her 16th birthday. It's like two different stories that eventually collide. And let me tell you it's a mess when they collide.

The characters in the book are very well developed. When you read about how they feel it's like your experiencing it as well. The author puts you into the characters thoughts and feelings as if they were your own. And not just the main characters but the supporting characters as well. And it's amazing.

This is actual a fairly happy book. I didn't cry during it (very rare) but I did get frustrated. When you know something the other characters don't you kinda just want to yell at them. All of this could have been solved if you two would just talk to each other! But I guess there would be no plot then... Still, communication is absolutely wonderful.

My favorite thing about this book however has to be that it's a fairy-tale remake.  I love all types of YA, I'm not that picky, but I've always loved re imagined fairy tales. I had such high expectations for this book and let me tell you this new snow-white story does not let down. It defiantly deserved the hype it's been receiving.

I would say this book is perfect for people looking for Snow White without the "Evil" step-mother. A female empowering change to the classic tale. Where women are the heroes.

I absolutely love this book and I think you will too. Be looking for it on shelves September 5th (or pre-order it. That's great too!)

Thank you to the publisher for letting me read this amazing book!
You know I love follows and comments!
